Anubis Carving

An extremely rare find in the Western Roman Empire, made more unusual as it depicts the Egyptian jackal-headed god Anubis. Anubis is shown above a lotus flower as he holds two lances. This box inlay is made of ivory and would have been a very high status object, even in Egypt.
