Patera Handle

Findspot: Jewry Wall Roman Baths

This is the handle of a metal saucepan-like object known as a patera. In Roman baths, such as the Jewry Wall bath house, where this handle was found, it is thought that the patera may have been used to make offerings, but they could also have performed a more practical function transporting water when bathing.
